In 2009, I started mentoring a young man who was headed down the wrong path. Unfortunately, I didn't come in his life soon enough. When I met him at 13 years old, he had already been arrested 9 times. Just a few years later he would be DIRECT FILED (kids sent to ADULT JAILS).
Direct File occurs when a state has given the prosecutor power to file charges against a juvenile directly in adult criminal court. I've mentored kids as young as 13 years old who were sent to ADULT PRISON for NON VIOLENT CRIMES and are still incarcerated as I write this. But let me get back to my main reason for this post.

Candidates in the Orange County Sheriff's race is fighting a zebra. Here are some of my observations.
Florida Rep. Bruce Antone, Lawanna Gelzer and others announce the formation of a Community task force on police use-of-force and accountability to residents. Rep. Antone opening comments focused on continuing his failure to represent the community and how he and Lawanna Gelzer will maintain the status quo.
When I am speeding 34mph in a 30mph no passing zone and someone is riding by bumper honking their horn and waving the finger at me, I will generally slow down to about 25mph, just to get them a little more pissed off. Who the hell are they, that I should alter my agenda for them?
