The African American Man

Living in a era where African American men are thought of as underachievers, lazy, and unemployable; I would have worked 30 years for Orange County Public Schools starting next year. Most of that time I also had a second job to keep myself busy and to make a difference in my community. I am saying all this because I want the world to know that I am a proud African American man that loves himself and the role he has played in the world.

I am a nonbeliever when it comes to stereotypes. In my world most black men work and love their families. The guys in my circle of life find all women attractive but are committed to loving their African

American Queens. At no point in my life have I ever abandon my duties to my child or to the African American community. I was inspired by both great black men and women to play a positive role in the lives of those that cross my path.

As I continue this journey of living, I refuse to embrace the damaging documentaries and articles that suggest that African American men serve no real purpose in today's society. There is still so much left for me to achieve. I will be publishing my second book this summer; while taking the steps needed to introduce my thoughts to the world. Though being an African American is very valuable to my history it is my goal to become a great writer regardless of my race.

I recently met my future African American Queen and it is my desire to be her knight in shining armor. Together we will conquer other stereotypes that suggest African Americans can't create a loving environment for a positive marriage. It is my plan to love her beyond her dreams; elevating her to heights she never imagined during her childhood. I want to be one of many African American men that wake from their sleep ever morning to to show the world that we are here to stay and the world will be a better place because of our presence.
