STATE OF FLORIDA V. ZIMMERMAN 6/25/2013

Gavel2State’s witness #7, Sgt. Tony Raimondo, a 17 year veteran of the Sanford Police Department testified Tuesday that he heard the suspicious person call and then disturbance call on February 26, 2012 while on patrol in the Sanford area and that he tried to seal a bullet wound in Martin’s chest with a plastic bag and attempted mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to the victim Trayvon Martin. But Martin was pronounced dead a short time later.

Tuesday was also the day that the pictures of the deceased, Trayvon Martin, were shown to the jury and made public on the night of February 26, 2012 to the jury as the State of Florida continued with its case and introducing evidence for the jury.  Court room sources tell me that one juror was taking extensive notes during the introduction of the testimony evidence of the witnesses and the introduction of the documentary evidence (of the pictures of the crime scene, etc.)

The important and compelling moments of Sgt. Tony Raimondo’s testimony were that:

-           He got to the scene on February 26, 2012 in about 5 minutes after receiving the initial calls and was the next officer to arrive after officers Ricardo Ayala and Officer Tim Smith of the Sanford Police.

-          That it was Officer Ricardo Ayala who was standing over the body of Trayvon Martin whose lifeless body was lying in the grass.

-          That the deceased Trayvon Martin was laying face down and hands underneath his body once Sgt. Tony Raimondo arrived at the scene according to his testimony.

-           That the deceased Trayvon Martin had no pulse when Sgt. Tony Raimondo checked.

-          That Sgt. Tony Raimondo was the one who valiantly tried to revive Trayvon Martin by direct mouth to mouth attempts at resuscitation and did not use a “mask” to do cpr.  “It was an extraordinary circumstance” Sgt. Raimondo said about his direct mouth to mouth attempt at trying to save the life of Trayvon Martin.

-          That Officer Ricardo Ayala helped too with trying to revive Trayvon Martin with compressions according to Sgt. Tony Raimondo’s testimony on direct.  And Sgt. Raimondo testified that he could hear the “bubbling sounds” on Trayvon Martin’s lifeless body as he tried to revive Trayvon Martin.

-          And Sgt. Tony Raimondo testified that he called to the crowd (once a crowd gathered) for saran wrap and Vaseline as he tried to save Trayvon Martin’s life; this was done, according to his testimony, to try to seal the wound, and “a civilian obliged. He was an Asian male. He gave me a plastic grocery bag.  I then tried to seal exit wound with the bag. I then lifted Mr. Martin to a seated position with Officer Ricardo Ayala helping.  We wanted to seal exit wound first and then the chest wound” Sgt. Raimondo testified.  “I then felt the cold ice tea can in his pocket; I did not find an exit would, so I laid Mr. Martin back down on his back and continued cpr.  Then rescue was called and rescue took over.  Then rescue hooked up the ekg.  Rescue then pronounced death of Mr. Martin, and I put an emergency blanket over his body for respect and preserve evidence.”

Court room sources also report to me that Tracy Martin, the father of Trayvon Martin, left the courtroom after seeing a close up shot of his deceased son during the presentation of the State’s evidence today and while Sgt. Raimondo testified.

Other witnesses called today were:

Wendy Dorivel state’s witness #5 from Sanford Police Department.   She testified that:

-Testified that she was contacted by Zimmerman for creation of the watch.

- Testified that the Sanford Police Department materials specifically say that neighborhood watch is not vigilante police.

ON CROSS, Wendy Dorivel testified that George Zimmerman was always polite and courteous and most residents were concerned about the burglaries there and that residents were concerned about an unsecured access there where people could sneak in and darkness.

State’s witness #6, HOA president Donald O’Brien.  He testified that:

-The HOA plan was if something ever happened suspicious, Zimmerman would send out an email only.

-The HOA president testifier that George Zimmerman started the neighborhood watch and “the HOA had nothing to do with it” O’Brien testified

-The HOA president testified that his understanding of “neighborhood watch” was to “report suspicious things and then stay away.”

-The HOA president testified that he did not think a neighborhood watch “was necessary.”  “Call 911 and let the police handle it” State’s witness #6 HOA president Donald O’Brien said on direct.

-She testified that the noise sounded “no or oohh” but not distinguishable.

-She testified that the noise “sounded like running as well” going on outside of her home.

-She testified that she saw arms” flailing- arms moving.”

“It sounded like running from left to right on the — in the rear pathway,” Bahadoor said.

Defense attorney Mark O’Mara poked holes in that claim questioning why the tidbit of “running from left to right” came to light for the first time in court.

“In that statement, did you tell Sanford PD you heard noise running from left to right?” O’Mara asked.

“I don’t know. I don’t remember,” Bahadoor said.
